The strategic axes of the BRIC
ICT in response to the challenges of the Region
The most pressing needs that exist within the field of ICT in and around the Brussels Region are primarily related to the infrastructure and IT equipment as well as from services or expertise in this area.
Meeting these needs will contribute to achieving the regional development objectives in response to five major issues:
- social issues (particularly in the field of employment),
- economic issues (creating a favourable environment receptive to business activity),
- issues of public services (promoting administrative simplification and efficiency),
- international issues (strengthening the influence of Brussels as European capital),
- environmental issues (reducing the ecological footprint of the Brussels Region).
Our four strategy priorities
Based on these issues, the BRIC operates and directs its development according to four strategic areas:
- Integrating ICT in day-to-day practice. BRIC aspires to contribute to the development of the ICT culture in various areas, among citizens (at school and by closing the digital gap), governments and decision-makers.
- Achieving economies of scale. Pooling public resources for the sake of effi ciency and innovation, with due consideration for the independence and needs of every level of government.
- Accelerating modernisation of user-focused public services through infrastructure and applications. Deploying ICT to support administrative simplification and cooperation between governments.
- Green IT : limiting ICT's impact on the environment (including energy consumption and waste). Deploying ICT to limit the impact of other activities...
